Used Gas Scooter Maintenance

Proper gas scooter maintenance is crucial to getting the most out of your scooter. The following instructions are universal and can be utilized on all makes of scooters.

Following Gas Scooter Maintenance:

1.Fuel and Oil mixture : The oil and gas are the mixed together in a separate container before filling the scooter. The mixture should be done at a 25:1 ratio (See ratio chart below). Mixing the gas and oil too lean can cause the engine to run too hot resulting in permanent engine damage. Mixing the gas and oil too rich will cause decreased performance and result in a fouled spark plug.

2.Spark Plug : The spark plug is a crucial and vulnerable part on your scooter engine. The spark plug must be clean, and must be replaced promptly when signs of wear begin to show.

3.Air Filter : The air filter is used to clean the air going into the engine.

4.Chain : The chain should also be checked for tightness on a regular basis. If the chain is too loose a popping sound can be heard and the scooter will jerk under acceleration, or the chain will just jump off altogether. If the chain is too tight it will be noisy and bind, this can be felt by pushing the scooter with the motor off.

5.Brakes : This style brake has proven well over time and is very simple to maintain. The rear brake has two main adjustments.

6.Carburetor : The carburetor is responsible for pumping the fuel and mixing it with the air at a precise measurement. The carburetor does this with very small diaphragms, orifices and ports, which are easily clogged by contaminants.

How to Choose a Used Gas Scooter?

1. Choose a gas scooter if you like the idea of more power. These scooters can generally go longer distances at faster speeds than electric scooters. They are a better choice for any off-road riding you may want to do. Gas scooters have many more options for modification if you plan to soup up your rig. But make sure you have somewhere to store your gas-powered model - the smell of gas in the living room might not be so appealing.

2. Make sure that the weight of the scooter is feasible for your lifestyle. You may want to look into a lighter scooter if you live on the fifth floor of a building without an elevator. Many electric scooter are lighter, and they are allowed on public transportation, while gas engines are not.

3. Check to be sure the handlebar extends comfortably to the height you need, and that the deck is comfortable to ride on. Take the scooter for a test-drive to see how the whole thing works. You should feel like you can adequately stop and start the scooter. Test the brakes and make sure they're accessible for you
